Responsibilities:
- To Lead on the local health economy (LHE) Patient Safety Strategy and implementation plan to make commissioned care even safer.
- Lead the LHE Patient Safety First Campaign to deliver on sustained safety improvements.
- Exercise leadership with all providers to positively influence a patient safety culture.
- Develop clinical quality indicators and safety metrics as a measure of patient experience and clinical outcomes with all LHE providers.
- Lead on the performance monitoring of incidents, near misses and serious untoward incidents reported across the local health economy.
- Provide assurance that current and future providers of services are compliant in relation to national and local safety standards.
- Partnership with lead commissioners to identify and act on key risks and issues across commissioned services that may affect the safety and quality of services.
- To support the establishment of a LHE Patient Safety Network to ensure that best practice is identified, shared and implemented.
- Lead, support and deliver training to lead commissioners on safety and quality standards, indicators and tools.

Lead on the assurance management systems for Incident reporting, including Serious Untoward Incident (SUI), Notifiable Issues and Near Miss reporting across provider organisations and independent contractors.

Development, implementation and management of assurance systems for all patient safety alerts.

Lead on the facilitation of learning from incidents and the application across the local health economy.

Lead on the monitoring and updating of the Clinical Directorate Risk Register and the Patient Safety Risk Register.
