Benefits to the east Kent healthcare community

Drives standardisation of practice and reduces variation in patient treatment across the healthcare system.

Facilitates planning around the clinical process, to assist in delivery of world class commissioning and 18 week care outside hospital targets.

Supports clinical governance, by providing a single, up to date source of best-practice, evidence based guidance that clinicians can access easily at the point of care.

Contributes to patient safety through point of care knowledge support, clinically-oriented education and “up-skilling” for junior and locum staff – an immediate benefit  – plus CPD.

Communicates local guidelines and policies to everyone involved in providing care across east Kent.

Helps to define referral points and referral criteria, so ensuring patients are seen and treated by the appropriate clinician throughout the care pathway.

Drives multi-disciplinary team working and clinician engagement in service delivery models and facilitates mediation across care settings.

Saves time re-inventing clinical guidance and searching for the latest evidence by providing rigorously reviewed, regularly updated, evidence based clinical pathways that can be used as the start point for local pathways to form a framework for sustainable pathway delivery.
