What can a patient expect?
People who are referred will be assessed and will receive the most appropriate interventions. IAPT services provide advice, information and signposting, in addition to therapy. Depending upon patient need, a patient may be treated using guided computer based CBT (CCBT), therapy over the phone, in group sessions or face to face, in GP surgeries or in local centres. Step 2 patients may be treated up the 6 treatment sessions, and step 3 patients up to 20 treatment sessions.
Waiting list
The service has a waiting list which is currently being worked on.
Patients will be contacted for an initial assessment and appointments arranged, although these may be some time in the future. The waiting list and waiting time will reduce as the service is embedded and more of our trainees become qualified.
Following up an individual patient
Everyone on the waiting list is sent a letter. If you want to find out about the progress up the waiting list of an individual patient, please contact your nearest referral point.
Referral for acute conditions
Referral for acute conditions is not affected by IAPT. Please continue to use the existing referral mechanisms.
Further question
If you have any further questions please email, clearly stating IAPT Question in the subject line to: Kathleen.govett@nhs.net
