Patient and Public Engagement in Commissioning Decisions Report
The purpose of the Annual Audit Letter is to summarise the key findings of the Audit Commission' s work in the past year.
To ensure that we are delivering an excellent service, we are assessed by the Department of Health against nationally set targets called Vital Signs.
These Vital Signs are those that we as a PCT are responsible for delivering.
They allow for clear comparisons to the rest of England. They help us ensure that we are putting in measures to improve where we need to and sharing examples of our work that is best practice.
Joint Strategic Needs Assessments
The Kent and Medway Joint Strategic Needs Assessment - Mental Health describes the current and future needs of the population in terms of mental wellbeing and mental health services (other than dementia).
Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent (PCT) has undertaken a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) to identify the needs of our population and look at the services currently provided. The assessment will help us to commission over the next three years the right level of pharmaceutical services for the people of eastern and coastal Kent.
This proactive approach reflects the new pharmacy White Paper and recent legislation which states that in future pharmaceutical need will be the key issue when deciding what pharmaceutical services are needed and where.
Substantial engagement work has been carried out as part of developing the PNA. This has included a telephone survey, an online and postal survey, focus groups within specific communities and discussions with stakeholder groups and a 12 week public consultation.
For more information please contact Andrew Scott-Clark, Deputy Director Public Health.

World Class Commissioning (WCC) assurance
